SHIP OF FOOLS??

Imagine taking a cruise. This cruise was to be a 4 year trip. On board are about 300 million people. There was a lot of hype and publicity about this cruise. People were extremely excited, and in some cases, even fainting over the possibility of such a great adventure.
You attempted your due diligence and uncovered a number of facts about the cruise that gave you pause about jumping on board. You found out the ship was in a shabby and unsafe condition. The infrastructure was falling apart, there were leaks everywhere. They found millions of stowaways and rats hiding throughout the ship. They had been eating away at the wiring, the insulation, the medical supplies and the food supply.
The rudder to steer the ship had been bent and twisted by the last captain because he was asleep at the helm while the first mate diddled with outside concerns; lining his pockets with the treasures stolen from the last passengers. Things were not shaping up well for this cruise.
The purser was chosen. Before he was brought on board it was discovered that he was stealing from the treasury for years; but the captain hired him anyway. The passengers were concerned about how their money would be handled during the cruise; but they had all drank a special either-spiked kool aid before the cruise and were still in an ethereal state as the ship was ready to embark.
Somehow the Purser and Health officer got away without paying any penalties for their “CRIMES” when others had gone to prison including a guy named Al Capone for the very same offense.
All the passengers held their breath (and their noses) as the captain ordered the crew to cast off.
All the passengers were hoping and praying for a safe cruise but had realized that they had forfeited their values for the sake of “Change they could believe in”
As the ship drew away from the shore and the sight of land dwindled in the mist, the ship was still leaking badly, the stowaways were still ravaging the supplies and the crew was still on the promenade congratulating each other on still being employed.

When the Roman Senate lamented the election of Caligula as Emperor,
(He created one of the most twisted and brutal regimes that the Empire had ever witnessed)

He said to them “You voted for me, therefore, you deserve me”
